Defining western dress code in my Malay world

Given the nature of my job, memang aku kena attend a few event yang mempunyai western dress code ni. Sometimes memang aku elak tapi kalau dah terpaksa, maka..kena lah attend nak tak nak..kan?

Hehehe..

So..point utama entry ni sebenarnya lebih kepada untuk rujukan aku la.. Senang nak refer di kemudian hari. Sebab bukan aku je yang kena attend. Most of the time Mr H pun sama. Jadi terjebak kena make sure dia pun ikut dress code. Huhu... A few types of dress code :

White Tie (Ultra Formal)

The most formal attire. Selalunya untuk event2 diraja, keramaian negara, etc.. Kira macam baju melayu hitam + samping sulam emas untuk Malaysia la.

For men :
  • Black tailcoat, matching trousers with a single stripe of satin or braid in the US; two stripes in Europe or the UK
  • white piqué wing-collared shirt with stiff front
  • white vest
  • white-colored (e.g., mother of pearl) studs and cufflinks
  • white bow tie
  • white or gray gloves
  • black patent shoes and black dress socks

  • For women :

Formal (floor length) evening gown. Kira macam ballgowns, glamourous, diva-like la..hehe. So far aku tak pernah kena attend lagi event2 camni. Kalau ada invitation pun memag takde aku nak pegi. Tak koserrrrrr......

    Black Tie

Formal attire. Men are required to wear tuxedos while women have the option to wear long dresses or dressy evening separates. Glamour all the way...

    Black Tie Optional

Man are given the option of wearing a tuxedo or formal dress . A dark suit and tie would be your other option. Women  can wear cocktail, long dresses or dressy evening separates.

    Lounge suit

Think business attire all the way. Man should wear a tie. The top shirt button should be fastened (which should be white, ideally with cufflinks), and tie pins. The jacket should be dark but if the event is during the day, a lighter jacket is acceptable. Trousers should match the jacket and dark socks are a must, preferably the same color as the suit. Shoes should lace up and be as dark as your socks, preferably black.

For women it's more like a casual business dress but a little more glamourous. Cocktail dress is acceptable but keep it less bling2.

    Cocktail

Men wear a dark suit, coat, and tie. Opting for dark jeans paired with a jacket and tie is also acceptable at some cocktail events, depending on how casual the atmosphere is. For women, short dresses that are party ready. When in doubt ladies, wear a little black dress, and dress it up with fun jewelry.

    Smart Casual

Men: Opt for dressy trousers, paired with a collared shirt and loafers.
Women: Wear a pencil skirt or dress pants, paired with a silk or button-down top and high heels. Think business-type clothes.

Itu je lah dulu.. tu je dress code yang common untuk mat saleh2 kat Malaysia ni. Next month ada event yang aku & Mr H kena attend. Nak kena start fikir dress dah ni. Penat la camni.. Rasa macam nak mintak clothing allowance plak sebab nak kena cari dress semata2 nak attend event. Hahahaha... OK. Dah kena start cari dress yang sopan sikit ni. Cheapest option aku? Pegi cari kat Kenanga Wholesale City je. Murah pun murah. Bukan mat saleh ni nak kelebet baju2 aku pun. Hahahaha...
